Developed in Venezuela to provide free musical education to the poorest children, this method also involves parents 和 communities in creating safe, loving environments that encourage growth 和 confidence.
The Nation’s First Undergraduate Certificate in El Sistema
While it is gaining popularity in the United States 和 around the world, few 项目 are available for training teachers in the El Sistema method. 音乐学院, Art 和 Theatre at North Park University is offering the first undergraduate certificate in the country.
The Music for Social Change 和 Human Values program evolved from an ongoing collaboration between North Park University 和 the 人民音乐学校 在芝加哥市. Students majoring in music can add this certificate to their degree program to exp和 their knowledge 和 experience of the El Sistema philosophy. Focused on teaching youth to use bowed stringed instruments (violin, 中提琴, 大提琴, 低音), North Park University 和 the 人民音乐学校 offer h和s-on internship experience in 芝加哥-area youth orchestras as well as the opportunity to learn from El Sistema instructors.
